Slimbridge WWT.

December 25th 2014
The first trip to Slimbridge of the year was very successful. The weather was kind and geese and swans were present in high numbers in spite of the flooding on nearby fields.

The Common Cranes made a spectacular entrance...

The Bewick swans were lovely as ever against a dark sky...

Juvenile
Barnacle Geese were present in large numbers - the closer shots are digiscoped...

Pintail and Pochard are always welcome ...

Pochard.

The feeders provided the usual species with a nice view of a Reed Bunting...

Finally though, the rain arrived and light levels dropped...

...although a brief reprise from the Sun ended the day on a positive note...
Pair of Shellducks.

Lapwing flock in the evening sun.

Perhaps the rain will stop soon....
