The `first` Common Blue and Small Blue.

It is strange to note that in spite of this June being the 6th warmest recorded, butterfly numbers remain rather disappointing.

One theory is that parasites are in the ascendance this year...

The male Small Blue was a good find at Middleton Lakes RSPB reserve. (It does look `blue` when in flight).

Common Blues are not common as yet either in spite of plentiful Birds-foot Trefoil for the catterpillars to feed on.
